Thanks.

I definetly tried to avoid giving off that implication. The bits and pieces of the the parents stories actually sort of add to the big picture and the themes of the story.

A character doesn't have to be alive to add to the story.

I've seen writers give personality and character to a dead person, and I've seen authors treat a living one like no more than a plot device so it can go both ways.
