Re: when and how did you first find out about sex?

He's so much of a prude it must've terrified him to hear his daughter asking about such a non-Catholic thing. He still gets embarrassed every time an unmarried celebrity has a baby, or when there's a sex scene on tv.

My father is similar and now I'm wondering if his Catholic schooling is the reason. When I was a teenager, I assumed he was just trying to set a good example, albeit in amusingly awkward ways.* He still gets kind of weird about these things now, even though I'm in my 30s and haven't lived with my parents for a long time.

*Once, a friend of mine told me that Blossom was a good show, so I made a point of watching it the next time I was able to catch an episode. It happened to be an ep where Blossom's friend is talking about how she is planning to "do it" with her boyfriend. Cue my dad calling out from the other room, "This is a stupid show." Then there was the episode of ST:TNG where Q is giving Picard visions of his past as a young cadet. In once scene, he's waking up in bed with a female friend of his and Dad loudly comments "THIS MUST BE LATER WHEN THEY WERE MARRIED." It was kind of adorable.

That's hilarious. My dad has left the room during scenes that were too sexual or violent for him.

Actually, as a kid he was raised Atheist and only became Catholic after marrying my mother. And he's really liberal about everything else, which makes it funnier. But all I have to do is wear a miniskirt and his inner conservative comes out. I used to buy clothes just to see him get all flustered and annoyed.
