Re: +1,000

You are a human being too and you SHOULD NEVER put up with that kind of treatment. I have Bipolar Disorder, and sometimes I lose my temper and say awful nasty hateful things to the people I love. It's my BD-- there are times when I am thinking in my head don't say that don't say that PLEASE don't say that and I do anyway. But they don't deserve to be treated that way, regardless of the reason that I am treating them that way, regardless of how much I can help it or not. They are people and they should be treated well. You are not that person's punching bag, nor should you be. Stick up for yourself. You don't have to be cruel-- you can even acknowledge that you understand that they're depressed and it's not really them-- but point out that you are being hurt. They may not be aware of it, and if they are and their only reaction is to make you feel bad for calling them out and hide behind their depression or use it as an excuse then honestly? Get the fuck away from them. I mean, give them a chance to cool down from the initial "hey this is not okay", but if they never actually turn around and apologize for hurting you and try to not do it again? Yeah leave. Someone who cares about you, regardless of their mental illness, does not want to hurt you. Once my I get over my anger I loathe myself for the things I do and say, because I've hurt people I love. I want to get better so I won't do that anymore. Yeah, they may not be able to help it, but they should acknowledge that you do not deserve it, at least.

Sorry I have very strong feelings about this because like I said, my MI causes me to be occasionally hurtul, and I hate it, but I WANT my friends and loved ones to stick up for themselves because I love them.
