You mean I'm not looking at gay porn?

(Anonymous) 2013-11-06 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
sorry? it's been happening since H.O.T days so there's no stopping it. jmusic can be the same so i wonder if you hate the pandering there too.

as a queer person and a long time kpop lover it's never bothered me much. the only time i really get my side-eye on is idols who do such fan pandering but then have shitty views on homosexuality COUGHshiwonCOUGH.

Re:Shiwon he strikes me as closeted gay and conflicted by religious beliefs I'm just waiting for him to find some nice gay Chrisatian people to help him come to terms that he can be both

I only like it when it's a couple I ship. Otherwise I find it repulsive as well lol

(Anonymous) 2013-11-06 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Repulsive" isn't the word I'd personally choose for those pictures, but I get your point.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-06 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
I miss the word "fanservice" so, so much.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-06 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
I've never used the word "fanservice", but I am sick of the accusations of "baiting" when I've never seen a coherent explanation of the who/what/whys of it in the first place.

Not in the k-pop fandom but... there's been sex-pandering (not the word I want but I can't quite brain right now) when it comes to entertainment for as long as I can recall.

Why is it bad if it's gay instead of straight? Sex sells. People will use this to lure people in. They always have and they always will.

As said above, why can't we just say this is "fanservice"? I mean, first off, I don't know these guys but I assume their a real band with real people dancing(?) like this, so it's not really "queerbaiting" because their storyline can't suddenly come out as gay.

And you know what? As a gay person, I think it's awesome. I'm sorry, I know I should be offended by fetishizing my sexuality but Korea is really homophobic. If two attractive guys are going to make gay stuff look cool on stage, I think that's great. Yes, I know it's possible that people can start associating gay with "not being real, just entertainment" (I lived in Japan for several years after all) but it's leagues better than screaming "EW HOMO" if two guys stand closer than three feet apart.

I am pro gay male fanservice, as long as they are doing it voluntarily and are having fun doing it. No regrets.

Yes, it definitely is fanservice. (At least some of) these guys know shipping and want to attract more fans by appealing to their fantasies. Especially SHINee is very famous for the pairings and the fans who have blatantly told the band about who they love together.

And I think, why wouldn't it be acceptable? What do any advertisements on the streets? Sell sex. I don't think that a "both-genre" band would rely on fanservice but because homosexuality in Korea is a taboo, it is really a scandal and creates new fans and gossip which then creates money for the company. The only concern is whether they do it willingly or forced. It's all about the image. Not as if they were actually gay (Although there has to be some in the mix).

I never shipped Super Junior members, but the erotic tone of that Siwon/Eunhyuk picture (middle) makes me imagine all kinds of things.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-06 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Not actually in kpop fandom but I'm not about to begrudge anyone for those images existing

(Anonymous) 2013-11-07 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm just disappointed that the female groups don't give nearly as much same-sex fanservice as SHINee, EXO, et all. I mean, except the Brown Eyed Girls, I guess.
