And someone did actually tell the OP of that secret that they didn't know anything about the two and what their relationship really was like. IIRC someone suggested that it was mostly PR for their movies, but was shot down in the following comments. Or was it that the only reason why McKellan was only at Stewarts wedding because they were abroad promoting? Something like that.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-06 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)I think it's a shame as the comments were trying to encourage OP that they might well have a good friend one day and you can't project stuff into pictures of people you don't know and feel bad about yourself. Sounds like they didn't take any of that on board. Oh well.

In fact, forget "pretty close" -- Ian McKellen freaking officiated Patrick Stewart's wedding. It's not crazy made up fantasy to see that they are clearly incredibly good friends. (Also, adorable).

Except that they are really obviously, vocally, visibly good friends who have an awesome time with each other and don't care what the world thinks of it, to the point they do absolutely ridiculous things and broadcast the pictures to the world.
Anyone who gets on your case for acknowledging that is an idiot, and I'm sorry to hear you have apparently encountered idiots. :P

Damn. Ian McKellan has some really nice arms.

(I don't ship them! But I do ship Magneto/Xavier, and one of the reasons the film adaptations work so great for me is because they have such good chemistry on screen.)

Seeing their friendship and how much they genuinely seem to love each other, puts a smile on my face.
