I am still somewhat disappointed Doyle never made any tongue-in-cheek references to orangutans (I'm sorry, "Ourang-Outans") in any of his stories.

Also, Watson mentioning "I felt rather indignant at having two characters whom I had admired treated in this cavalier style" after Holmes bashes Dupin is one of my favorite lines in any book ever. ONE OF US. ONE OF US.
