Why do they insist on acting higher and mightier than 4chan and Reddit, when they're just as dumb and neckbeardy but without the irony of 4chan, or the sincerity of reddit?

Because they make people literally pay if they disagree.

I feel like every one of those sites acts high and mighty towards the others.

But in all seriousness, it seems like people who hang out on one website always think they're better than people who hang out on other websites. Humans like rivalry, I guess.

Dude. Everyone who gets all devoted to their site of choice gets all stupid about it :U
dw/lj vs tumblr for instance. Although, tbf, 4chan really does take the cake in the number of weirdos who rag on about everything and normals.

The short version is... if you exist, your have the suffix of fag. On rare occasion, OP can be declared not a faggot, but everybody else is.

Do pictures for the boards? Artfag. Fic? Writefag. Have a name? Namefag. Have trip code? Tripfag. If you suck, cancerfag. Newfags trying to get into the board and oldfags that have been around forever are both the cancerfags ruining 4chan, btw.

Of course, sometimes ladys like having sex with ladys and guys like to bang other guys on the board. Those are the fagfags. Which is fine, it's not like they are furfags or something. Furfags can die in a fire.

Uh. Not sure if ill_omened's comment at all describes it, but basically anyone who doesn't fit into the culture of whatever board they're on. Like the opposite of what one might imagine a basement-dwelling internet addict is, and not anti-mainstream.

A large number of the subboards on 4chan define themselves through being Hikkimori/NEETs/Otaku and revel in that fact. So they will celebrate waifu, or people with bodypillows, and strongly reject anyone or anything which represents 'normality' - people talking about girlfriends, or being a career success.

Except it's all deeply layered, so you get people being ironic about being ironic.

And then you get them centred around weird obsessions (see the idea of wanting to be the 'little girl').

There we go. Now I THIS the shit out of this comment.
