Legend of Korra is not a Saturday teatime middle class BBC show. They want only enough differences to make them appreciate the conformity. The geeks might make up the vocal part of the Who fanbase but the chunk of the numbers are middle class and middle aged. You want diversity in Who, its with the companions, not the lead. That would be departing too far from the format (something that Moffat in particular seems to forget).
