Re: Certain people and noise/rudeness/entitlement?

It's the only reason I bought them, I don't have the music on 'cause I'm not a huge fan of not being able to hear whats going on around me on public transport but so far putting them on and staring out the window seems to have decreased unwanted conversations.

It's only been a few months so might just be coincidence. But I'm pretty sure I've been bugged less. I'm cool to give someone directions or say what train we're on but it ends there, no money asking, no conversations no "yo what you doing tonight" shit

I usually do eventually listen to music (or play a game with music or sound, or watch a video, etc.) but yeah, the headphones definitely help. I don't think it's just coincidence.

On the bus I either read or play Pokemon (the latter is more likely if the music on the radio is shitty). But I take a shuttle to my college classes from my apartments; it's not a city bus and it's full of college kids all wishing they had more sleep and coffee. There isn't a lot of interaction going on (though there can be really, really annoying space-crowding and I am pretty uptight about my personal space).

Are you talking about a public city bus or subway? I've heard those can be a lot different. (Sadly, my hometown has a pretty bad public transit system so I've basically never used it. I've used the city transit in my college town, but not often and usually with lots of other students.)

Subway, I live in outer suburbs and commute to the city work. It's not a bad-bad route compared to others but some of the later hours or towards the end of the week it gets unruly and it's also passes by a hospital so you get...interesting...characters.

Then there's the just plain asshole present :/
