Irene Adler from BBC's Sherlock. She's apparently a lesbian dominatrix who still wants to sleep with Sherlock because how dare anyone not want to sleep with Sherlock or something.

Disclaimer: have not watched Sherlock, but jesus christ it's all over Tumblr.

I HAVE seen it, and that's pretty spot on.

Or she's bi. Or she's a lesbian who has an attraction to one particular person. It *does* happen....

She doesn't say she's bi, she says she's gay. And given the way she's presented, I feel safe saying she knows the difference.

Or she said that to throw John off. Who knows? Like 'you say you're not attracted to him, and yet...and hey, i'm *gay* and i can see the hot, so you're just faking your no homo, dude.'

I might find this an interesting idea if I had any reason to believe the writers of Sherlock are actually follow through with it. Instead, it just feels like more queer baiting bull hit (I mean from them, not you).

From them, i'm sure it is. But - glass half full, enjoying 'problematical' things, etc.

It does happen but the percentage of lesbians who date men is a lot higher in the media than in real life. It comes across as an irritating male fantasy. I've had guys tell me all about that fantasy in great detail.

Yeah, i know. But (i'm repeating myself, sorry) - i liked the character and i like the show, so i'd rather make a headcannon that keeps her likeable than consign her to the pit of idiot male tv dreck.

I can sympathize with that. I'm not very fond of the show so I'm probably more ready to criticize it than you (not that liking a show and criticizing it are mutually exclusive)

Was it a sexual attraction or an intellectual attraction? I thought the point was that they developed an emotional bond with one another because intellectually they got each others juices going. And that Sherlock didn't do emotions, but he found himself developing an emotional attachment to her which he had to admit at the end.

OMG yes thank you somebody gets it!
