The secret didn't mention Elementary? Like, at all. Who knows, OP could be refusing to watch Elementary because they don't like Watson being American. (Who else from the ACD canon is American? Lestrade, Moriarty, and the Holmes brothers are all British.)

I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm genuinely curious why you brought it up.

The wife "The Yellow Face" is said to have gone to American when she was young, and only returned to England after her husband and child died.

The wife in "The Dancing Men" is also from America.

And from Hound of the Baskervilles, Sir Henry Baskerville is from Canada.

....wasn't the wife in The Dancing Men also American?

There's also that guy in "The Three Garridebs". American vs. British spelling even becomes a clue in the story IIRC.

Also, the guy in "The Five Orange Pips" who's on the run from the KKK.

There's a ton of American characters from the canon! And especially characters from the American West - ACD is almost obsessed with it. I think in mostly the same ways that he's kind of obsessed with colonialism - the American West and the British colonial possessions have the same kind of appeal and the same function, in the stories.
