I definitely agree there. I think that part of the reason people find BC so offensive to look at isn't necessarily that he's hideous (he's no uglier than Matt Smith or that guy who plays Merlin imo), but that a man who looks like him can even become so popular and gain such a fandom in the first place, while a woman with the same looks would likely be met with disgust and hostility.

THIS. YES. The OP's outrage is cute and all but cry me a fucking river. Actresses--the few that actually get that kind of visibility, since the industry still overwhelmingly writes many more roles for men than women--get that shit non-stop. This guy has his own show? He's considered a sex symbol by some? And OP is all "it's sooooo rude to call him ugly! Eleven!" Do you police reactions to all actors in the industry, including the women who bear the brunt of this kind of lookism, or just those to your current favorite? (You meaning OP)
