Anyone here following this because I honestly find it hard to believe it's happening.

Mayor of one of the top cities in the world

- Has a video released of him smoking crack, which he eventually admits to
- Video released in which he says “I’m gonna kill that fucking guy. I’m telling you, it’s first-degree murder. No hold barred, bro. He dies or I die, brother. … I’ll rip his fucking throat out. I’ll poke his eyes out … I’ll make sure that motherfucker’s dead,”
- Phones a radio show to defend himself, pretending to be a member of the public, and hangs up when called out on it.

And rumours are that worse is going to come to light.

Oh and he's refused to resign.

Beautiful, isn't it? You can't write this stuff.

The last one is almost what gets me the most.

Like the rest you can strike up to shit a lot of rich or powerful people do, he just happened to be dumb or unlucky enough to get caught doing it.

But the radio call in is something else.

Technically, in Australia you vote for the party, and the party chooses their favored leader. That guy gets to be the PM. So as long as people keep voting for that party and said party doesn't change leadership, he can stay for a pretty damn long time.

i know it's pretty terrible but it's also so bad that it's getting hilarious. like i can't help but laugh at how stupid he is, and how he's done so many stupid things in the past and yet it's still happening. also part of me loves that it's so big that they're also reporting on it on lots of american shows

It's beautiful to watch when you are on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. I wonder if he's going to turn out like Silvio Berlusconi. That guy is like a rash that won't go away.

He needs to go. The people need to band together and boot his ass out. Can't he see he's becoming more of a laughing stock each day?

He must be trying to hold on because he knows the moment he resigns/gets kicked out, his political career is over. But still, he could of bowed out with a modicum of class and what's left of his tattered dignity before it blew up even more.

Sanford was pretty astonishing, too.

The previous mayor lives just down the street from my parents. Sometimes I feel like knocking on his door and begging him to stage a coup or something
