My old house didn't have any closets near the doors when I was growing up, so we all go in the habit of keeping our shoes in our rooms. (The house was built in the 1950s)

Also the convenient spot to keep shoes would be in the laundry room but my dad and brother don't respect my shoes and so I have to keep them in my room to avoid being damaged or dirtied by their shoes.
