Maybe some of that has to do with perspective. I can count the number of places I'd call cities in Indiana on my hands...um...there are perhaps four? There are tons of small or mid-size towns, and several large towns. But yeah there are towns scattered pretty evenly through everything. The farmland and space doesn't really disappear, but it's not homogeneous.

Out of curiosity what were you doing in Indiana, and where did you go? :3

(I went to Canada once when I was ten. I don't remember very much about Canada itself because I was so young and all we did was stayed in a cabin on Lake Erie for a week.)

I was there a few months ago, checking out IU Bloomington for grad school.. that was my first time in the Midwest, though, so my impression might now have been accurate.
