I have never seen a single scene, let alone a single episode, of this show. Yet I believe I know every detail of every single plot point just as well as the most attentive fan due to tumblr-osmosis because I'm delusional. How else would I know I know everything if I haven't seen anything?

Fixed that for you.

Well, no, I actually asked a fandom friend of mine who has watched all the episodes more than once if she would listen to my perception, and described the entire show to her. Then she asked me some more specific questions about implications, characterizations, interpretations, and mine were, if a bit weird due to being filtered through fandom, pretty much accurate/had a basis in canon. But I gotta say that was more to check to make sure of what I already strongly suspected, due to the fact that Sherlock fandom on tumblr had ceased to turn up any surprises for me for a long time before I asked her.

I do admit that I have a gap when it comes to gauging the atmosphere and tone of some of the action-y sequences, since those, unlike fraught emotional exchanges of facial expressions or dialogue between characters, are hard to gif (and bg music you've only heard in soundtracks is pretty hard too, though when it's about a scene that I can cross-reference with several gifsets, fics, and analyses, it does convey some of the gist of a scene).

btw, I am not dissing Sherlock here at all. I just find the fact that I can kind do this on tumblr fascinating. :)
