Question for you guys

(Anonymous) 2013-11-09 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, say you were a pet to an advanced alien species. They can understand when you talk to them. They can make any flavor human food for you but it's kibble like dry dog food. Due to limited settings on their food replicators (they're cheap and won't spring for more), they can only give you one flavor and you're going to eat that flavor human kibble for the rest of your life. What is it?

I refuse to choose and attempt to starve myself to death.

hamburger meat. I was going to say chocolate at first but as much as I love it, I would probably be sick of it pretty fast. I never get tired of ground beef

...Um...IDK. Fried chicken, I guess? I mean, I *love* it but...idk if I'd want everything to taste like it forever either.

Does really matter? I'm going to end up revolted by it sooner or later.

I think REAL watermelon is how I'm voting. Because while something salty and snacky will suit the texture I think I might do better with something light in the long run?

I wouldn't be able to wrap my head around something like that tasting like watermelon, so I'd probably flip out if I had to choose that.

Try and think of it as a granola type thing?

salt. Is salt a flavor? Salt makes everything better.

Macaroni and cheese. Not the boxed stuff, the homemade kind. Though I'd probably get tired of it, it wouldn't get really nasty like tacos or something.

Considering the texture would bother me if I chose a fruit or something, I'd probably choose just straight up beef flavor. Dry dog food actually tastes okay in that respect (I was a curious child.)

Cheetos. Because I love them, and I cant imagine meat flavored dry carb based food being anything but disgusting.

I'll say bacon, although I'd eventually get sick of it.

Bread. Really good bread.

Bread is a good time for me, bread is a good time for everybody...

Chicken.

I know I can stomach large amounts long term, so the flavour wouldn't bother me.

Re: Question for you guys

Pets eat things other than kibble though. Even animals at zoos have a staple set diet, but also get treats. This question doesn't rule out treats or things you might find on your own to eat (just TRY to stop a house pet from eating things outside of its kibble, you will fail at it, even if you never let it outside), and only addresses the staple everyday food you will be given for free by your owners.

Assuming the above is true, my answer would definitely not be my favorite food, because I'd reserve that for the other things I eat on occasion. I'd pick something bland but infinitely tolerable, like rice.

If the above isn't true, why not ask "what flavor would you eat if you could only taste one flavor" and leave the aliens and pets stuff out? It seems unnecessarily convoluted.

OP

(Anonymous) 2013-11-09 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Unnecessarily convoluted was the point. You know, for fun. My brother asked me this exact same question and I had to spring it on somebody else.

Death tbh. That's gotta be one of the worse kinds of long-term torture.

The flavor of my alien captors so every time they feed me that shit they know I'm developing a taste for their flesh and it's only a matter of time before I want the real thing. Maybe then they'd change their mind about being cheapskates.

Yay! :D

I hope it's not the Golden Gate Bridge. That one's too prone to destruction.

Probably something fairly bland. Pasta with a little bit of butter, or something. It won't taste good, but I won't become nauseated by it either.
