It's not a real person though, it's an intentionally designed character and they've chosen to have them be the shortest.

And really, outside exceptional circumstances a white european from a middleclass background is not going to be that short.

I know plenty of white European-descended people from a middle class background who are that short.

If it's one person, it's not really a thing. I'd only sit up and take note of something like that if say, they had a bunch of European characters all on the show, and every European character was shorter than every Japanese character.

LOL, purely European background American here, and I live in Japan, and just so you know, plenty of my High School students are taller than me, especially the boys, plenty of the are around 6ft./180cm+.

FYI: Asian doesn't always equal short and white doesn't always equal tall. Them not having the exchange student automatically be the tallest because white people must be taller is a good thing.

Also, given that they're around 15, being that short isn't that weird for a white person, given that I have a fully grown friend (also white) who is 4'11".
