Never really watched the Nightmare on Elm Street series (though I really should), but I understand the sentiment. My favorite a Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie is the second one because it's campy as hell. I love it.

I love the entire frqanchise scary Freddy through to hilarious Freddy. Actually he made me literally laugh out loud in the very first one - on fire falls down the stairs and I hear an audible "ouch" I lost it. :D

SA

retraction: "entire frqanchise except #2 Freddy's Revenge" Neither liked nor got that one - it doesn't fit the rest of the story arc, IMO.
Also, frqanchise yeah it was a typo in 1st post and now I'm like a toddler trying to pronounce the misspell for novelty's sake. :D

my favorite is totally Freddy's Dead

I love Freddy in all his incarnations. Plus, he was always a bit silly/campy, even in the first one. That's Freddy's thing, y'all!

Silly Freddy is the best Freddy.
Court is dismissed.

Agreed.

Part of the problem is I didn't find him sinister or frightening at all at first. Not that I found him frightening after he became a joker, but he was actually amusing the watch. Nightmare on Elm Street was just...a boring movie.

(The only time I ever found him actually sinister/scary was in New Nightmare.)

Me too! I didn't really care for the remake that came out a couple years ago because he was played so seriously. I like when he's shown to be completely crazy and laughable.

I love Corny Freddy. I actually kind of think it's kind of menacing; after a certain point, he stopped doing it for revenge, and started doing it just for funsies.
