Seconding this soundtrack. I bought it when it first "released" and just sent it to my friend today since she wanted some old Pokemon music, and I love the choices the guy made for the orchestration. I want to get the extras, too.

This is the first generation where I haven't muted the game after half an hour or so. I love it, especially the different city themes

Oh dude, Anistar City. I could listen to that theme for hours. I also love the hell out of Laverre and Dendemille.

Hands down favourite music for XY is the gym battle music and the legendary battle, though (I have a version of the latter which still has the SFX, which I honestly don't mind because it has the legendary in my game and my starter's cries). And the music that plays during That One Intensely Spoilery Flashback/Exposition Bit. And the Power Plant/Pokeball Factory is seriously awesome...

But yeah. I have zero emotional connection to Kanto since I didn't start playing until 2010, and my first game was HeartGold. BW/BW2 and XY, though? Goddamn I love those soundtracks. (BW badge check building into Victory Road, the music that plays when the gym leader is on their last Pokemon, the Dive music, Marine Tube, N's theme and the happier BW2 version, Iris's champion theme, freaking Emotion...)

The entire aesthetic and music of the NES era, vs those of modern gaming.

I have a ton of remixes for the first gen (I wouldn't mind seeing the same happen for the Johto games, unless it already has), but the newest game's city themes are great to me, too. I'm glad it's coming out digitally so I can pick them up.
