Technically, Walt is a serial killer. He has killed more than 3 people in separate incidents.

He also raped Skyler, sooo...

You mean the time when he tried to initiate sex, she said no and he STOPPED?

(Anonymous) 2013-11-10 10:47 am (UTC)(link)
You act like he stopped right away. He did not. He only did after she was 2 seconds away from biting his head off.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-10 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Did he stop or not? The thing about rapists is that they keep on going regardless.

I was thinking about the moment when he was already all Heisenberg and creeped on her when she was in bed. The scene did fade to black (because it was at the end of the episode), so I don't know how far it went. Even if it stopped right there and then, him creeping on her made me hate hate him like nothing else.

Deleted scene had her giving him a handjob because she didn't want sex. He didn't force anything.

Not quite. Designation as a serial killer generally requires the murders not be related to or in the service of other criminal activity. He's a multiple murderer and all around shitty human being, but serial killers are a special subset of that breed.

Often, but not always. The designation of serial killer only requires 3 or more murders with a period of time between to differentiate it from spree killings. The fact that most serial killers have a certain subset of psychological disorders does not then mean that Walt is NOT a serial killer. No, he didn't molest, mutilate, torture, or have some special emotional gratification from the killings he did. He is still a serial killer. (Especially because most of his murders can be in some part attributed to both monetary gains and attention seeking behavior)

Honestly I don't claim to be an expert here but I've been reading about this stuff for at least 15 years and I've never seen anywhere it designated that "serial killers" aren't also crime-motivated killers. Many of them absolutely are, and a lot of times money and attention are clear motives for some favorites like the Zodiac Killer, the BTK killer, or Dorothea Puente. There's really no differentiation between these criminals and those involved in other crime, aside for the fact that killers without other criminal motives are more fascinating to the public audience.
