I hope you picked the fire starter because I believe that's the game where I got all the way up to the elite four and got murdered by Vespiquen. I tried catching fire types in the wild but they were too weak/never learned any decent moves.

No I picked the water starter. For fire I have my lovely rapidash.

I had little problem beating the bug elite even with my weaker pokemon, it was the psychic elite.

Good thing you went with one of the other starters...cause Chimcahr's line stinks. His final form is mainly fighting and I HATE fighting. So mad at myself for choosing him. Switched him out with a Vulpix later on.
