Legend of the Seeker might yhave been officially about the male Seeker, but the main attention from fandom for that sow was the female characters, not only Cara and Kahlan, two leads, but also the supporting characters. That show was awesome for representation of female characters.

Defiance has pretty good female characters (it's more of an ensemble show than a show with a lead), as does Warehouse 13, where the leads are pretty much split between guys and girls and one of the main fan ships is femslash.

Of course, two of the three have/had a decent fan following (LotS's fandom really depleted when the show is cancelled), so they don't work so well for the OP's point.

I also love that Kahlan and Cara were able to be just as badass as Richard and Zed, if not more so.
