Legend of Korra?

[personal profile] diet_poison 2013-11-12 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Hey f!s, who's been keeping up with Korra?

I only watched two eps of this season so far, which I liked (largely because Mako wasn't there). Then I fell off of it because I'm busy and because other fandoms and stuff.

My first question is, is it worth watching? Or is it consumed again by the love square (or love shape, as someone on the secrets discussion said) to the point where it detracts badly from the rest of the story, like in S1?

My second question is...where can I watch it? nick.com only seems to go back five eps, which is stupid since I'd have to skip 2 or 3 to watch the ones they have, and they're not on YouTube or Hulu or Crunchyroll...

I watched the first two episodes of this new season and wasn't impressed. I might finish once it's completed, but I'm not really interested the series right now.

a lot of the Korra related stuff is really interesting and has some good character development for her, making her less rash and actually grow as a character.

There is some love triangle fuckery in the background which is annoying. But Korra herself is developing awesomely.

I dropped it after the last two episodes, because of some weird romance angle that popped up. :/ I'm waiting until the end of the Spirits book to see if I should pick it up again.

Here's the masterlist I use to watch it, though. Technically you download the episodes, but they take barely any time to download because they're hosted on a specialized server.

Thanks so much for the link, anon!

The last four episodes were good. This week's episode is going to have Mako and Asami in it, so I'm not even going to bother watching it. It really annoys me that Asami yelled at Mako for not telling her he was single. Why was it any of her business? And that she just throws herself at him a few hours later, jeeze. There just isn't anything likeable about her 'character'. I use character lightly, because she doesn't have any real traits besides flowing hair and being the third wheel to a love triangle. Oh, and crying. Lots of crying.

If you liked ATLA, you'll probably like the origin episodes for the first avatar Wan.

huh, I really liked Asami in Book 1. It's Mako I don't care for. Not that any of them are perfect, of course.

Yeah, I heard about the origin story thing! That will be really cool to see!

It's going to be about ASAMI SOLVING A CRIME HOW COULD YOU NOT LIKE THAT

Are you one of those people who automatically hates female characters who are pretty?

Nope. I just don't like character who have no real personality besides being plot devices+no personality. It doesn't matter what their gender is.

I think Asami has personality and I like her and find her interesting. to each their own I guess

All she's done this season is give a controlling share of her company over to Varick, feel Mako up, and fly a plane. It's painfully obvious that once Mako finds out Korra is in trouble, he will leave her again. Which means her airtime is just going to be more glares and pouts in the remaining episodes. I don't...really think that's a fun character. She has no stories outside of ones setting other characters up. Bolin's 'growing up', Mako's framed story. None of these are her own personal ones.

Re: Legend of Korra?

This. She doesn't really do much of anything and her personality is so paper thin that I don't see how people find her interesting.

...like I said though I've only seen two episodes of season 2. I liked her in S1. I'm sorry if that bothers you?

I think it's more Asami has a lot of potential and she had an awesome personality, from what I saw, in Season 1 but right now...she's an impersonal plot device and it's irritating me greatly. I hope this episode improves things on her character front and HOPEFULLY this stupid love triangle will DIE

Um... I've seen most of it. Saw all of the first season and all but the latest episode of the second season.

I'll be honest, it has problems. It's nice. Okay. There are things I really like and things I really don't. As long as you don't have to pay for it I say give it a shot.

As for where...? No idea. Sorry.

Watch the first two/three episodes and then skip to the last four that have aired (from Beginnings onwards).

Anything in-between is completely useless in terms of narrative importance. A few scenes are important I guess, but nothing you can't read up on instead of wasting your time watching filler.

Love square seems like it's cropping up again and I am now only going to watch the bits with Korra in, maybe Bolin as well if he has any scenes without Mako and Asami being there.

Bitty Korra in the latest episode looks ~ADORABLE~

I've been keeping current. The A-plot has suddenly gotten interesting, as of episodes 7-8. The "love shape" is back, which annoys me mostly on the grounds of the fact that the writers appear not to have noticed that they've made Mako an asshole (again). I'm also waiting for Bolin to get some actual screentime and verbs to do, because he's suddenly shot from "favorite character by default" to "favorite character because AWESOME" for reasons that have almost nothing to do with anything that happened this season. It would be nice if the writers would remember that he existed and had traits.

So much cringing from the bad writing. The dialogue is so bad at times.

IMO, the only episodes from this season that are worth a watch are Beginnings 1 & 2. Both episodes are rather well written, the first avatar Wan and Raava are awesome, and the art direction is awesome. I'd even go as far to say they're the only episodes of Korra worth watching.

Kinda, but I've been :( most of the time. I'm gonna see it through to the end but...sigh. Disappointed.
