You don't get notified when someone bookmarks your fic in AO3 but you do get to see them, both at the bottom of the fic's blurb and in your statistics section. Which means that a fic might "officially" have 50 bookmarks but you know from your stats page that you really have 65 bookmarks on a work.

Also, bookmarkers sometimes contain a reader's opinions on your fic, which sometimes make them like comments. (Although, knowing that, you sometimes have to wonder what's written on the hidden bookmarks.)

There's a Recs function and also a Read Later function, which I love.
