My dad's name is Walter, he was a Chemistry major in college (and he did a fair amount of grad school, but went into computer/tech stuff instead) and he's pretty dorky. He also loves Breaking Bad, to the point where it might be his favorite show. I joke about him secretly being Walter White on a pretty constant basis.

We also just started watching Fringe, so now I can joke about him being Walter Bishop, too. Pretty much every Walter is fair game, but guys who do science and are named Walter are especially joke-worthy.

There was a running gag (and a startling lot of <a href="http://planethalflife.gamespy.com/View.php?view=PHLFanFic.Detail&id=1"fan fiction</a>) in the early years of Half-Life fandom that one of the scientists at the research facility was named Walter Bennet -- because the filename for one of the face textures for scientists (balding, glasses, no facial hair) was simply "walter." It proved popular enough to the point where the three expansions actually named or featured him explicitly.

Yeah, he's kind of dorky too -- though a tad more competent than most of his colleagues.
