I'm kind of the opposite. I've got this notion that fictional characters from books need me to imagine them in order for them to exist, so they all clamber for my attention. If I leave off reading a book halfway through, when I get back to reading it I feel almost apologetic towards the characters for stranding them like that. Their story can't progress unless I read it.
