Now I'm a weird person who randomly fancasts things that haven't ever been adapted in her head anyway, but do you ever think up alternate versions of entire series with genderswapped casts? I've seen a few Marvel genderswap casts on tumblr and wasn't crazy for their picks.

Care to share your genderswap cast ideas, f!s? Or genderswap fic recs if ya want.

Rebecca Hall (http://www.beyondhollywood.com/uploads/2011/09/Rebecca-Hall-in-The-Awakening-2011-Movie-Image-600x901.jpg) for Sherlock Holmes, BBC flavor. I haven't really thought of the rest of them yet, but dang, this one jumped out at me and latched on hard.

I like to imagine Teen Wolf with an entire genderswapped cast. I find it fun to imagine the audience's reaction to a lot of the plots (so much rape and agency themes in that show omg) if the genders were flipped. I don't really have a cast imagined tho.

I've gender swapped the cast of merlin in my head before (Helen Mirren! Uther unf!) and I also really like the female SPN gif sets that are floating around on tumblr. Missy Peregrym looks so much like Sam it's not funny.

Man I am bad at this game. I think Gina Torres and Meryl Streep should play everyone ever.

Going a little OT I remember on a community anon meme that was playing raceswap someone said John Cho should have been cast as Jeff Winger and it sort of blew my mind with how much I wanted to see that. That's really the only casting swap that's ever stuck with me. That and the canon swaps of Tom Cruise for Idris Elba in Pacific Rim and Angelina Jolie in Salt. If there was a petition to retroactively swap all of Tom Cruise's roles for either Idris Elba or Angelina Jolie I would sign that in a heartbeat.

That SPN genderswap gifset on tumblr with Amber Heard as Dean and Missy Peregrym as Sam? Yes please (mostly cause of my huge lady boner for Amber Heard)

Ugh, I hate the average genderswap/raceswap meme that pops up on tumblr. Because 99% of the time there is no thought into it. It's just swap one actor for another random popular actor of a different race or gender regardless if that actor has the chops to play such a role. I think it's insulting to think that actors who have put years into studying and working their skill set are that interchangeable. Like one actor is as good as another.

Like I saw a genderswap for Lord of the Rings that had Katee Sackhoff playing Samwise Gamgee? What?! No Samwise in the book and the movie is supposed to be a low key, every man. He supposed to be the guy you would look at and never think, "Yeah, that guy could kick my ass." He wasn't supposed to be the born soldier. Sackhoff looks like she could beat me black and blue standing still. The same with the born soldier characters she has played. There was no thought in this casting.

I remember seeing that and wondering if that selection was based on her being the only non-waify blonde actress the poster could think of.

I like them in idea but all the time, the actresses chosen for the male characters are way too glamorous. One time I saw somebody choose whatshername who plays Britta Perry for Jesse from Breaking Bad. She's just not dirty enough.

there was that genderswap SPN fanfilm some people made...not visually who I would have thought for Sam and Dean but they were great!

I've been meaning to make some form of graphic about this for some time, but I have an entire Fringe genderswap cast in my head. Character names have not been changed (yet?) because for a lot of the men the feminine versions are very odd and uncommon names, let alone an entire cast of them.

This one BrBa Jesse/Walt genderswap fic (http://brbakinkmeme.livejournal.com/521.html?thread=436745#t436745) is good.

The second or third time I watch something, I usually genderswap, raceswap, and/or add some fantasy element to the characters in my head. An awesome way to re-experience the show and see how things would fare if a character was another gender/race.

Kate Mulgrew as Gibbs is just perfect. Maybe then I actually might like Gibbs. And omg, Angela Bassett as Vance. Do want. Want so damn bad.
