They threw Watanuki's character development out the window and screwed all the cast over on the way there. God, the ending still makes me mad after all this years.



Spoilers ahoy!

Watanuki became Yuuko 2.0 because... fuck, no reason given. Doumeki marrying Kohane so someone (their grandchild) could keep an eye on Watanuki. Himawari dying of old age (probably, but they don't see each other again). The whole thing was a huge WTF to me because it made no freaking sense.
