I feel you on the pacing, I liked the action scenes but a lot of the more emotional stuff happened and then it would switch over to more action or another scene so fast that there was barely any time to take in what had happened. I hate that they killed Frigga but I loved her burial scene, I found it quite moving tbh. Poor Hogun in this film man, I'm not sure he even got a line of dialogue.

I think I enjoyed it more than the first Thor, but I will certainly agree that it's got lots of faults. But what matters to me is how much fun I have watching it, not it being a perfect shiny masterpiece, and both of them have succeeded in entertaining me.

I would watch a movie of nothing but Thor and Loki dicking around in space and I would be happy, I'm that easy to please. And I'll always agree that those two work so wonderfully well against or with each other.(and I loved a lot of the other characters too, just as you said, some of them were sorely underused). It was the best cameo, I could probably watch that scene on repeat for hours.

The pacing was pretty terrible, yea. You had Loki dying one minute, and almost immediately afterward the bit with Jane's ringtone and Thor being jealous. It was rushed and threw me off; the emotional stuff was never given enough time to sink in, and sometimes it felt like they didn't give enough weight to the darker moments because of that. I'm with you on Frigga; I hate that she died to make her family sad and bring Thor and Loki back together, but at the same time I love the scenes that happened because of her dying so it's a weird experience. Her burial scene was absolutely stunning though, and mostly I'm just glad we saw it at all, and that it was given so much screentime. It would've been terrible if TPTB had killer her off then made her burial quick and forgettable. And I kept hoping and expecting for Hogun to come back; they all but completely ignored him. The others might not have had much to do, but at least they got multiple lines. (This is probably also why I think I prefer the first film. Needs more Thor + Sif and the Warriors Three.)

You know, I always look forward to more Thor and Loki screentime, but Loki being Loki and his storyline being what it is, it'll never happen. This frustrates me more than it should because I LOVE when they team-up and more of that would be most welcomed. It just isn't meant to be, I suppose.

Me too, ahaha. I watched the film with my mom and even she was endlessly amused by that; it endeared Loki to her a bit too, I think.

I agree, it was paced okay in some places(like Frigga's funeral) and then after Loki dies we get Thor being jealous + funny moment that felt out of place. To me it felt like they were trying to 'lighten up' some of the darker bits of the film, and it didn't work in some places. What I saw of Frigga this time around I loved and I wish they had kept her around longer, had the impact of her death mean more than just angst-fodder for Loki(and I do love the bugger but man her death to fuel his angst did not sit well with me).

(I think Sif actually had less screen-time in this film, but I know that Jamie Alexander was injured during filming so that was probably part of the reason why.)

Hogun should get his own mini-series after this. Hogun's adventures in Vanheim while everyone else is committing treason/saving the universe again.

Oh I know, the likelihood of the two of them ever being in a place to work together or be on the same side can only exist in my dreams(though I do think that if any universe could give them some kind of reconciliation it would be the MCU, but that doesn't mean it's going to happen). I still love their interactions as it is.

I laughed so hard during that bit, and I must have had a stupid grin on my face for ages afterwards.
