I think the line is blurry between fantasy and sci-fi at times. It definitely isn't as sci-fi as BSG or Defiance, but I would put it as more sci-fi than Warehouse 13. Except for the alien parts, I would put it as as sci-fi as X-Files for the most part. They do try to have a "science" aspect to the explanations to the troubles. So the troubles have a genetic component and are almost plausible scientifically. (They try, using things like brain chemistry and the like to explain it. (Just like the "monster of the week" episodes of X-Files.)) I think what could possibly make it fantasy is whatever explanation they come up with for The Barn. But if they come up with something plausive (not necessarily possible, but plausible, like X-Files' aliens and their tech), I think the rest could qualify.
