Trigger warning for child abuse

[personal profile] elephantinegrace 2013-11-16 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry if this is invasive, but are you still in that situation or have siblings who are? Because if so, you need to get out. Sooner being preferable to later. There are an increasing number of resources out there for exactly this kind of situation. Please, please, please don't think you're stuck with abusive relatives!

Seconding all of this. If you're still in that situation, please get out.

I... I'm sorry but as someone who is looking at being a teacher I would hope I noticed and filed a report or something...

This. Although if OP is in college (that wasn't clear to me), I'm not sure what the laws are on required reporting at that level, if any.

professors are still mandated reporters at my college, at least. i once couldn't make a conference with a professor because i was having a breakdown in reaction to some new medication, i emailed her as such as an apology and to let her know i wouldn't be there, and she reported me to the college. so there's a chance.

Why do you hope they didn't notice? Do you really not want help and treatment? You might feel better with the support your teacher can help you get.

Mmmm as someone else who had an abusive childhood I understand why you wouldn't want a random teacher finding out. I do hope you are out of that situation, but yeah, if its something you are dealing with on your own you don't always want people finding out willy-nilly? I especially never wanted people finding out when it wasn't on my terms (ie me choosing to tell them why things made me react the way they did.)
