Having the urge to write a "For Want of a Nail" AU

with My Little Pony : Friendship is Magic.

I was just struck with this urge to write one that only swaps Pinkie and Fluttershy's races and see how much is changed. Just out of curiosity, partly because I saw concept art of Pinkie as a Pegasus and the idea interested me (Pinkie Pie, master of upside down flying)

I wanted to keep the even race ratio. I can't imagine Rainbow Dash without wings, and i was curious about how Fluttershy might fit in with Earth Ponies with her animal speaking ability.

Would anybody be interested in a story like this?

Incidentally, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy are actually already race-swaps of their G1 counterparts (Surprise and Posey, respectively).

That would change the entire series though.

Dash's friendship with Fluttershy is the reason she challenged the bullies to a race. Pinkie very likely would have been able to stand up for herself, or at least not have been such an easy target, by virtue of her temperament and her sometimes naive ability to believe that everyone just wants to get along. So if Dash doesn't challenge the bullies to a race, Dash doesn't pull off the Rainboom for the first time.

Now, she might later, but think how many of the mane 6's cutie marks were time-sensitive: Rarity would have just been staring at a giant rock. Pinkie would have spent the rest of her life on a rock farm. AJ would still be in Manehattan, etc, etc.

When Twilight's talking about "true friends have a special connection, sometimes before they even met!", she means the Rainboom. Without Fluttershy, well, there's your nail.
