What is up with people basing their opinions of this on a single character sketch and cover?

I have actually heard:

"She's a schoolgirl carrying books. So BORING"

"She's a token Muslim and she'll probably be a horrible stereotype so I'm not even going to try"

"If Marvel was going to actually make her a good character, they wouldn't have pointed out her religion!"

And now this. The guy's name is Bruno and he is saying "Ciao". For all we know the new Ms. Marvel's family immigrated to the United States through Italy and he came with them. Or he could be a 15-th generation mutt.

We. Know. Nothing.

Give it an issue, at least, people!

But why do that when jumping to conclusions and getting mad about it is so much more fun?

Especially if you have an agenda. It is easier to mold "could be's" into them than actual facts.

Long-winded anon here:

Sadly, I'm quite sure there will be plenty of ACTUALS that can be molded into flailing. I just think it's a little crazy to start doing so before we've even met this young woman and her supporting cast.

This isn't like DC where the pre-reboot stuff where we were seeing the ruination of great characters in slow-motion. The new Ms Marvel is a new character, with a new supporting cast, filling in a title left vacant by the graduation of an old character to a new costume.

So. Yeah. Patience is a virtue and the only sane response, here. -_-;
