Of course a fictional token white guy and a racist hate crime are on different planes of offensiveness, and I didn't mean to equate them on the same level. What they have in common though is that both spring from the same problem of racism. Look at all the comments below going "well of course you need a white protag because otherwise white people wouldn't support the comic". So while having a fictional male protag is relatively harmless, the fact that it is NECESSARY to make the product sell derives from the same kind of sentiment that would lead to a hate crime. Which is why I mentioned it. And if you don't get that you're being purposely obtuse.

I know right?

I just after awhile you try not to think they honestly mean this stuff. The arguments they make are based on extremist slippery slope logic.

"I don't like the fact that they can't have a show without white people" becomes "the fact that they have a white character leads to vicious hate crime"

I just don't think this is the comic you should be using to make your point. It's in New Jersey. It's about Americans. It's allowed to represent the diversity of America. If you want to make this point, target something that puts a white guy in a place where white guys probably wouldn't be.

or, you know, something that has a cast that isn't composed primarily of POCs
