Re: there's this strange anon

Most of the people who are reading the story in question have left kudos upon reading the first chapter, and I rarely get any readers apart from those who expressed interest when I began posting (the fandom is tiny), but every time I post a chapter I get exactly one additional anon kudos.

Not Your (Theoretical) Anon or Who You Replied To: What's wrong with leaving a kudo per chapter? I've read some great chapters and some shitty chapters, and am always happy when one is good. Basically, I just don't see why this has to be weird or awkward at all, because I cannot tell you how much it's not.

People rate individual episodes of shows all the time, chapters in a fic isn't really any different.

It's not bad! To be sure, I think it's awesome, and it makes me feel more confident even though I think it's just one person. One passionate fan=better than a ton of people who are lukewarm towards my work.

But I feel like they may want me to think that it's a bunch of anons instead of one. Which is awkward. It never struck me as common for AO3 folks to leave multiple kudos on a fic - the whole point of kudos is to show the number of readers who enjoyed the story - and, well, IDK. Although your comment reassured me a little in this regard.

Nothing good comes from trying to assign motivation to people. There's absolutely no basis to assume they want you think they're "a bunch of anons."

Yeah, you're right. I was overthinking that :)

There's a WIP I've been reading for a while that I wish I could leave multiple kudos on. I'll leave anon kudos and signed in kudos on some fics that I really like. Take it as a compliment.

I dunno, the other day I had someone leave kudos, plus an anon, and the person who had left the kudos said they signed out so they could leave me another one because they liked the story so much and wished they could leave more. It's not the first time I've had someone comment saying this, and it always makes me smile.

So whether it's the same anon just really really liking it or a bunch of different anons? Take it as a compliment. Either someone thinks you're really something special, or lots of people think you're cool. =)
