Completely drunk, never. I don't like losing control.

I drink maybe once every two or three months, sometimes less than that and other times more often. I don't like loud music so going out isn't something I do for fun, I do tend to go to the "pre parties" that my classmates throw and stay until they go to the town about 2 or 3 at night and then I drink some.

But the fact you have a whole borrowed foreign phrase for it showed a dedication to your craft that left us britishers feeling that we were amatuers.

How can you invite people over to your house for a pre going out party and tell them it isn't a "party" party, because that is something different, if you don't have a word for it?

Is "vorspiel" what we German call "Vorglühen" (lit. "pre-glow" / "pre-glowing")? Meeting up at someone's place and getting drunk before hitting the town?

Because "Vorspiel" is also a word in German, but, uh... It doesn't mean quite the same thing. :P

If you pronounce it in Norwegian with a F sound not a V sound*, it becomes Forspill which is foreplay in Norwegian... So we probably stole it from German and made it ours...

*as they do in German too if I remember correctly from High School German.
