So let me get this straight...

Marvel introduces a MUSLIM SUPERHERO...who is a GIRL...and there's wank because there's one white guy in the cast?

Were you guys upset that the back Spider-Man is dating a white girl or interacted with white superheroes? Jesus.

*black Spider-Man obviously

Not the first female Muslim superhero Marvel's had. Though I suppose Faiza's stretching the definition of 'superhero' a little.

First one to headline a title at least?

Pretty much, yeah.

Faiza was the primary POV character of Captain Britain and MI-13, but Brian's name was the one in the banner, so, Ms Marvel's going to be the first.

I also completely blanked on Dust from New X-Men, who beat them both. (Again, not a headliner, though.)

M is Muslim, apparently.

Although everyone kind of wondered wtf that was all about...

Really? Never knew that. (Not that I saw a whole lot with M.)

Newer development (2-3 years ago, I think?). It came as a surprise to pretty much everyone in-book and out. :D

So, a couple years after I stopped reading X-Factor (I stopped reading around issue 40 of Vol 3.)

There we go. Thanks for not making me look! <3

... Hah.

Monet.

To be fair there are very few characters that have solo books that haven't been around for decades. Specifically with Marvel, their best titles are team books. To me at least.

I don't want to sound like a Debbie Downer but I fully expect this book to crash but I think their intention might be to introduce her then put her on a relaunched Young Avengers. If people are right about the Ultimate line crashing and folding some into 616 they might even add Miles.
