am I missing something? what's heteronormative about specifically shipping Gendry x Arya?

I love that ship, and while I don't care what you ship, OP, I find your assertion that the fic is heteronormative to be weird. unless all the fic has elements besides the ship itself that make you say that?

I'm guessing their thought process is something like "If a female character isn't an icky girly-girl, she's obviously not an icky cishet female either."

Arya actually reminds me quite a bit of myself when I was about her age, and I love that about her. But I'm an icky cishet, whoops.
