I hate it when cultures outside of one's own are singled out and held as unique for behaviors that are a visibly widespread problem.

It's like how there was that period of time in the early 00s when every hardcore fundamentalist Christian was clutching their pearls and exclaiming over OH NO LOOK HOW WOMEN IN THE MIDDLE EAST ARE OPPRESSED AND FORCED IN TO SUBMISSION!
