16. I have to say... this vaguely pissed me off. Unless the character is from "Earth" (in whatever aspect it might be) and from a country on said "Earth" that would have some Jewish bringing with it...

Characters are not cut! ARG. It is a completely unnatural thing to have done, and most civilations that have exist have not lopped the skin off their males' penises.

SPECIALLY in anime! It wasn't until outside influences brought into the country that being 'cut' was even introduced into that country.

...Sorry, I had to get this rant out. ^^;

From what I've gathered from a very good Jewish friend and my religion courses, that is basically where circumscion started, hence my statement.

It's not any more hygenic to have a foreskin. Why do you think its ON the human body? Its meant to protect the glans from being chafed, getting cold, etc... its the hygene of the PERSON who owns said penis that makes a penis hygenic or not.

From what I can tell, there's not a man on earth who wipes himself clean after taking a piss, so its definitely based on the hygene of the person.

Well yeah, it's where it STARTED. But it's far from a Jewish tradition nowadays. People who aren't remotely Jewish get circumsized.

And though yes, it's certainly possible to keep yourself clean if you aren't cut (and most people do)... it's just easier this way >_>

Plus, they look strange >_>

Wow no. Her point was that if the character doesn't come from Earth and thus the Jewish tradition didn't exist, he's NOT cut.

Thank you very much, Kinneas. That was exactly what I was trying to make.

How can one be cut if there is no tradition to have created the circumstances of which being cut exists? XD

So basically, almost every anime/fandom character that isn't from OUR version of Earth, with the Jewish tradition, is uncut.

I say 'almost' because I think I can safely assume that many animators/artists for yaoi/het/showing penis would forget that in their version of the world, being cut wouldn't exist.

First point: Judaism is NOT the only... "civilization" to have made circumcision. From what I remember, there are also some African tribes that do it I think.

Second point: Just because Judaism does not exist where the character is from, who's to say that some culture where they are from doesn't have circumcision as a practice? For god's sake, it's FICTION. It's not INEXTRICABLY TETHERED TO THE RULES AND FACTS OF THIS WORLD. You're acting like other cultures that don't exist in real life are BOUND to not take a tradition of a culture that does, simply because in OUR world and reality, it's basically that one culture's thing.
