Another anon who watched this, based on the rec in GC. Is it just me, or do these shows tend to fall into the same trap after a while, i.e., they start repeating themselves, either with regards to the characters, or the plot, or everything, after one or two years/series/seasons? Whitechapel did it, this show did it. Self-limiting shelf life? Writers run out of ideas? Focus groups gone bad? IDK what it is.

That said, if Chandler and Pullman ever hooked up, that might break the universe.

To date, I have not seen a single show longer than twenty episodes that would not fall in this trap, given that the show in question is not a screen version of a literary work.

That's how mass culture works. There was an interesting discussion on f!s regarding the transformations that the TV industry is currently undergoing, and I agree that it may eventually evolve into something more "high art"-ish, but right now it has nothing as grand as the best of printed books to offer. Which is why all my favourite series are either adaptations or mini.

I can't stand the end credits song for New Tricks. It's such an earworm.

It's my family's favourite. We burst into singing it at any excuse/ anytime anyone ends a sentence with 'it's all right' - "- IT'S OKAY/ IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER IF YOU'RE OLD AND GRAY"

What's that? It's in your head now? You're welcome!

Curse you anon, curse youuuuuu

I've been in fandom too long, I always mentally re-write that line to "doesn't even matter if you're old and gay"... Slash shipping has ruined my brain, but now I get to give you the mental image of Gerry giving Brian a blow-job too now.

Haha, I get it stuck in my head every time I watch, too.

I love how she and Gerry just sort of fitted together in the early series, before Dennis Waterman really got old looking. I also kinda want a New Tricks/Star Wars crossover, for the obvious non-Sandra reasons. She was a brilliant character.

This show was so awesome up until the point everyone started leaving :(

Actually it kind of started running out of steam for me once Jack's story concerning his wife got a resolution at long last.

Did I make this secret in my sleep? Sandra is everything I want to be in life and know I never will.

You're not alone in loving her, OP. :D I think she's one of the most amazing women on TV and am filled with admiration for her gutsy, human, complex, strong role in this. :)

Love this show :D

SPOILERS FOR SEASON 10

SRSLY, SPOILERS, DON'T READ IF YOU CARE

Sandra is everything. She is amazing. I don't mind her replacement, but it's just not going to be the same. I think I'll keep watching though - I like Danny and his daughter and the Scotsman quite a bit by now as well. I feel like they're going to set Danny and the new woman up though and I don't know how I feel about that.
