I'm watching the weather right now. There's a tornado warning in my area (central Indiana). Illinois had some tornadoes on the ground with damage and injuries but no deaths afaik. There's also bad weather/warnings in parts of Michigan, Kentucky and Ohio. My roommate is out so I hope she's somewhere safe. I don't have a basement in my apartment so I will have to go into the utility closet if there's a tornado sighting in my area. A few minutes ago the wind picked up really hard to "is that a hurricane??" then went back only "very windy" after a short while.

Is anyone else in this area? Watching the weather?

(The sky is strangely beautiful with the sun setting behind the gray, fast-moving storm clouds)

Oh yeah, a tornado did hit up north and it's been super windy today but I think it the tornado watch is over for my area.

I'm St. Louis area, btw.

Southern Illinois here. Didn't have any tornadoes, but the wind alone has been bad enough to do a bit of damage. It sucks because other than that It's mostly been a really nice day.

Thanks! It looks like it's mostly past my area now. No actual touchdowns in Indiana - there was rotation in a nearby town (which caused the warning and sirens) but that's it.

I'm lucky, I'm down in TN so I'm only getting the rain.

It's windy and very gloomy here, but nothing dangerous -- too cold for tornadoes, too warm for blizzards.

Update: 3 people in Illinois have died. =(

Damn, that's terrible. :( I hope no one else dies, but I guess that's unlikely...

We had some sirens here in Wisconsin earlier and it has rained hard several times today. It didn't get windy until just a little while ago, but the stuff we're getting now, while covering a larger area than the storms this morning, does not appear to be severe.

The weather nixed some plans I'd had for this afternoon and delayed some errands while I waited for the more dangerous weather to pass but hey, at least I wasn't hit by a typhoon.

I'm so worried for the people I know that live there :( I wish i could just drag them to where I live where it's just a light drizzle.

Southern Michigan. I went out to take some pics of the sunset post-storm, and by the time I got them off the camera, it was dark. As I opened Photoshop for resizing, it started raining. After resizing THREE PICTURES, I went to upload to Facebook and it was thundering and lightning, wind is still blowing so hard I thought for awhile the furnace was on. But nope, just the rain blowing hard and continuous.

...Was going to say we haven't even had a power flicker, despite many friends and family across the state posting to FB via their phones to say their power's out, but as I was uploading that pic to share, my lights did flicker a couple times. We're right next to an airport though, so they tend to be pretty good about getting things fixed in timely fashion if they do go out.

Yeah, as I said in another thread, I was playing games all afternoon, and just when I put the 3DS back in the charging cradle, I saw actual RAYS OF SUNLIGHT shining through my window onto me... and I looked out and saw that. Grabbed camera at once, ran out to back deck.

Of course I think storms are also pretty, and I really am tempted to go out right now and drive around solely because I want to experience a little of it. Unfortunately a windstorm with lightning is not a good thing to observe from a rooftop, especially when you're extremely underweight and might literally be blown off. :P Also curious to see if what a friend said is true - he lives north of town, I live south, and he apparently has been driving around and says about half the city is without power.

I hope you turned out all right! Noblesville only ended up getting a lot of wind and rain, but we still huddled in the hallway for forty minutes.

Yeah, my mom was telling me Noblesville was more at risk than Indy (where she is). I'm glad it turned out okay.

In Ohio so I'm in the outer areas of the bad weather. It's been raining since last night and it's really windy, but not windy enough to cause any power outages at my house like before. I haven't left the house so I don't know if there's been stuff around town.

Right after I posted this the lights started flickering and still are gdi why did I say that

Southern Michigan, somewhere north of Flint, here. It passed over us without much fuss, but I hear Flint did get hit fairly hard. Right now we've just got some fairly stiff winds rattling the plastic on the windows.

I'm in southern illinois and it was storming a bit this morning, but it dwindled to nothing but a strong wind all day. my mum texted me and asked if I knew what to do in case of a tornado and I was like "uhh....nope" and found myself nervously peeking through the blinds the rest of the day haha. nothing happened of course.

Apparently there was a part of southern Illinois that did get hit! I'm glad you're okay :)
