I don't think so. I mean, there have been several studies that indicate when porn is widely available instances of rape go down. I don't see why this would not be the same.

Pedophiles do not equal child abusers. There are some who are aware that their attraction is an aberration and harmful. These usually go to therapy and control these compulsions. I could see how something like this could help them.

On one hand, disturbing. On the other hand, could this be used to stop sexual child abuse? Pedophiles don't stop being pedophiles, they just abuse or don't abuse. So would the use of aids like this help them curb their compulsions or make them think that they are normal (and possibly make them want to abuse real children).

Good question. Because if giving a pedophile a 'child doll' would make them stop abusing real kids, i'm all for it. But it's hard to say.

As I understand it, there isn't necessarily a cathartic effect from using a child sex doll to avoid raping children, but at the same time it doesn't speed things up, either.

Probably, if it were used in conjunction with medication and therapy or something to that effect, it could work, but on its own, I doubt it would do anything either way, or do anything more than slow someone down.
