I feel like the giving would be nearly as awkward as the buying.

Although...imagine how much of an uproar the members of his Rogue's gallery that care about identities would get into if he bought one in-person, as Batman. The Joker would shrug philosophically, probably, since he's in it for Batman rather than Bruce, but the others... :D

Hey, it could be handy. Drop enough hints that Overtly Male Superhero may be a female bodied person, and the pool of possible alter egos for the Villain to sort though practically doubles.

Now I'm picturing it becoming a whisper from an initial purchase, and Babs getting bored and using her computer smarts to troll/flood the entire Villain underground with further hints.
