"Did you listen to her on NPR and get really jealous or something?"

I'm getting the sense that's where OP is coming from. Like, my depression didn't manifest like Brosh's, but that doesn't mean I have to immediately jump to the conclusion that she's trying to make blanket-statements and then try to correct her about how REAL depression is like.

OP doens't have to agree with her, but stop trying to correct people who do relate to those particular experiences.

I'm honestly really ticked off at the whole "I'm functioning well! Unlike her!" Because honestly it sounds like me in my bad periods. "I hate myself and everything is grey and I cried myself to sleep last night BUT I'M GOING TO CLASS AND MEETING ALL MY DEADLINES FUCK ALL OF YOU." You don't post with that voice. You settle down and try to get better.

Also, that "hot mess" just published a book, has a wildly successful website and was on a very high profile NPR show. But she's messy so I guess we'll look down on her.

DA
There is something about OPs post that is really bothering me and I think you've touched on part of it. Still trying to work out why it's ticking me off so much, but thanks for helping me figure out part of it.

But people who do relate to her keep saying "This is what depression is exactly! I wish I could make everyone read this so they will know how much they all make me suffer and feel terrible!"
