Maybe! I was actually really interested in the story lines. I tried to find a Let's Play I enjoyed of it, but none interested me.

So much of these games is about the atmosphere and your surrounding, so it doesn't surprise me that you didn't like the let's plays.

IMO the first is far superior to the second and third, though 2 is enjoyable too, and the latter half of three is wonky but still a good game with some interesting mechanics and characters. I'm sure you can get the first two on steam for cheap now, and I've personally played those on easy; I only died once or twice and even then always seemed to leave behind extra money, ammo, and health kits.
