Re: Legend of Korra Finale - what did you think?

First season pretty much had all of that happen as well, though. Love triangle taking up 50% of the season, character development regression, and the Jesus ending.

I don't see it that way at all. Korra changed by the final episode. I don't see Aang helping her as any different/worse than that awful lionturtle bs from the first series. And the love triangle wasn't as terrible was it was in s2. Asami is just an unlikable twat in s2, and Mako destroyed any likable characteristics he had gotten. To me, s1 is mostly perfect

Jumping in-But, if Aang helping her is just like the lionturtle, then the s1 ending was basically a Jesus ending (as was s2).
And again, those characters were already dismantled by s1, especially Mako.

I'm having a hard time seeing s1 as mostly perfect with all of its issues in story, plot and character, while s2 was on par with the same quality of writing.
At least in s2 there wasn't the whiplash of the sudden love conflicts happening, but both seasons were pretty bad.

Bolin forces a kiss on a tied up girl in season 2, said girl then returns his feelings. Nothing like that happened in s1. Bolin returns the feelings of the girl who was going to force him into marriage/her slave. Nothing like that happened in s1. The villain in s1 had a reason to not like bending, Unalaq just wanted to be evil, 'cause evil. Mako had budding feelings for Korra in s1, then started dating Asami. He struggled with them and eventually chose Korra. In s2 he refers to ex-girlfriends as leeches, runs back to Asami a few days after Korra leaves, and his lies become worse.

In s1 Asami had a reason to be upset and catty towards Korra. In s2 she yelled at Mako for not telling her he was single, and then goes right onto kissing/touching/stroking him. Knowing full well what happened to her in s1, knowing full well that Korra and Mako had been dating for half a year. Really, the only mature person in the love triangle in s2 was Korra.

And at least the plot started in the first episode. Korra's plot took forever to start, and it just never felt coherent. s1 will always be better than s2 to me.
