Re: shingeki no kyojin rant
(Anonymous) 2013-11-18 01:09 am (UTC)(link)As for the Erwin/Levi pairing...can I just say I'm happy about the height rule applying? It normally doesn't in m/m from shounen series, because it's usually the nicer/louder/flirtatious/younger person on bottom and and the cooler/stoic/serious/older person on top, and the heights might be a bonus. That's why SasuNaru is infinitely more common than NaruSasu, for example, and why characters like Byakuya (BLEACH) almost always top. I'm willing to bet that's how it works in most of Levi/Eren too (Levi topping, Eren bottoming) because people write Eren to fit that first type even if he really doesn't. I get that some people prefer the visual elements more and so the height rule is a little annoying, but Levi/Erwin works wonderfully for people like me who prefer the personality dynamics instead. :)

Re: shingeki no kyojin rant
(Anonymous) 2013-11-18 06:17 am (UTC)(link)It would probably work better as a multichapter, imo, but my personal theory about multichapters in this fandom (and especially with Levi/Eren) is that there just isn't enough canon yet to make one work. It'll all be Jossed soon enough, so what's the point in making up tons of plot?
I do have a few fics that I found pretty IC, and I'm not really the type to enjoy the endless random AUs and pointless fluffy fic. You can try these and see what you think.

My other theory, btw, about characterization in this fandom is that the canon itself is pretty light on characterization in the first place, because they spend most of their time fighting. There's not much to work off of anyway. So when writing a fic or enjoying a fic, part of your opinion on whether or not it's IC has to do with your own headcanons or your own predisposition towards the pairing and/or plot. So if you go in with a certain view of, say, Levi, who's had like 10 lines in the whole series, it would be hard for you to find something IC if it doesn't match your view of him in the first place.
I mean, I'd ask you - what do /you/ think should be in an IC Levi/Eren fic? What would make it more canonical for you? (honestly curious!)
