Did anyone watch Almost Human?

(Anonymous) 2013-11-18 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
I missed it. Thought it was on later. I will probably DVR tomorrow's episode and wait for tonight's to come up on On Demand, but is it worth it? Was it good, was it okay-with-potential, was it this-only-got-greenlighted-because-of-the-names-involved?

Dammit I forgot! The only show I've been interested in all season and I forgot to watch it.

I liked it. It wasn't ~spectacular~ but the premise has potential and the setting does it for me. Also Michael Ealy's lips and eyes. Ahem...

Anyway, maybe ask again tomorrow (a bit earlier)?

But IMO you should at least give the first couple episodes a shot because rarely are pilots wonderful, and they don't tend to show everything a series has to offer. There's potential for this to be a decent series, but I guess it also depends on what you want out of it; I'm just looking for an hour of pretty and amusement, but if you have extremely high hopes you might be disappointed. Nothing to do but wait and see, I guess.

I just mostly wanted to know it's not terrible. I mean the promos have been okay and I like both action and sci-fi, but sometimes they put all the good stuff in the promos and the rest just feels like filler. Also, I'm not a huge fan of bleakness, which some futuristic shows seem to have in abundance.

There is a fair share of bleakness in the pilot, but a lot of that comes from Urban's backstory; he hasn't had a chance to move on yet. He seems like a sourpuss in general, but by the end of the episode he was warming up to Ealy's character and the previews for the season had some buddy cop stuff in it. I think it'll be a mixed bag but I definitely don't see it being bleak all the time.

Still early days yet so it could turn out to be a disaster, but as of now I like it and am looking forward to the rest!

It's very far from terrible, although it didn't grab me the way Sleepy Hollow did earlier this fall. The leads are entertaining and the fictional world holds some interest. I'm defititely going to keep watching for the next few episodes at least.
